What do I need to use Parkster?
To be able to park with the Parkster app, you need a smartphone that runs on the
Android or iOS operating system. You can download the app for free from the
Google Play Store or Apple Store.
Parking meter out of order?
Please contact the parking lot operator directly. This is usually the
municipality or the city or a private operator. You may find the contact
information on the parking meter.
Parkster only provides digital parking tickets and cannot assist with
troubleshooting parking meters.
Can I use Parkster everywhere?
Almost there. Currently, we are available in more than 800 cities and
municipalities in Germany and Austria, and the number is constantly growing.
Enable location services and open the Parkster app. Your location will be
displayed along with all Parkster parking spaces nearby.
You can also enter your desired location in the search field.
On the website, you can find all the places where you can currently park with
Parkster at Locations
You can recognize Parkster parking spaces by the green signage with the Parkster
logo. Alternatively, we can be found on the respective Park App provider's
sticker on the parking meter.

Where can I see my ongoing parking transactions?
Open the Parkster app.
Tap on 'tickets' at the bottom of the screen. There you will find your active
parking transactions. You can also find the currently running long-term parking
permits, such as weekly or monthly tickets, here.
In My pages , you can find your parking transactions under 'Parkings/ Receipts'.
How do I start a parking process?
Open the Parkster app. Search for the desired parking space, either by using
'Nearby' or by entering a location name or a zone code in the search window.
When searching by location name, the desired place will be displayed on the map,
with parking spaces marked by green pins. Zoom in on the desired location and
click on the parking pin you want.
The zone code is always indicated on the parking sign and must match the zone
code of the parking space selected in the app.
The app will display the zone code along with the parking designation. Click on
it. You will now see all the important information for parking in this zone. Set
the desired parking time using the slider or alternatively through the clock
icon (Android) or the calendar display (iOS). Check the setting under 'Auto stop
time'. The preliminary costs for the selected parking duration will be displayed
right below.
If everything looks good, press 'Choose vehicle and park'. The parking process
will start as soon as you have chosen your vehicle.
How do I end my parking process?
In the app, tap on 'tickets' at the bottom of the screen. Click on your active
ticket, then on 'Stop parking'.
Here you can also extend your active ticket as needed.
IMPORTANT: When parking, you set the expected parking duration using the slider
or the date (iOS) or the clock icon (Android). After this time expires, your
parking session will be automatically ended by us.
Setting the parking duration at the beginning is important to ensure you have a
valid ticket. If you do not set the time, your parking ticket will likely be
stopped shortly after it starts.
I forgot to end the parking process, what should I do now?
Tap on 'tickets' in the app below and click on your active ticket. Tap on Stop
Parking.
If the parking time has exceeded and the costs have therefore increased
excessively, please contact our Customer Service as soon as possible.
How can I add or remove vehicle registration plates?
Open the app and tap on 'Vehicles' at the bottom of the screen. Tap on 'Add New
Vehicle' and enter the desired license plate with all characters, including
umlauts. Confirm by tapping 'Add New Vehicle'.
The license plate will be displayed in your vehicle list without the hyphen (-).
Give your vehicle a nickname, select the vehicle type, and choose the color. The
chosen color and vehicle type are not crucial in case of parking control, so
don't worry if the image doesn't exactly match reality. During the check, only
the license plate matters.
You can also activate your vehicle for camera parking. This function can be
activated or deactivated at any time afterward. Activation is important when
parking in parking facilities with automatic start and stop triggered by camera
surveillance. When manually parking in the app, camera activation does not
matter.
If you want to remove a license plate, tap on 'Vehicles', select the vehicle you
want to remove, and tap on 'Delete'.
How does the parking attendant know that I am using Parkster?
The parking attendant searches for your license plate in his handheld device. If
he finds your license plate, he will also see your electronic parking permit.
A few cities/municipalities still require a parking sticker with a note about
digital parking to be displayed behind the windshield. You can check where a
sticker is required on our website under Parkplakette.
On this page, we also offer a parking sticker for you to print. In case of
emergency, the parking sticker can also be printed in black and white or a note
with a clearly legible handwritten statement "I park with Parkster" can be
placed behind the windshield.
It is important that the sticker is placed clearly visible behind the
windshield.
How do I transfer a long-term parking permit to another vehicle registration number?
Open the app and tap on 'More - My Pages - Manage your account' or log in to 'My
Pages' at www.parkster.de.
Tap the three menu lines in the top right corner. Select 'Parkings/ Receipts'.
Find your active long term parking permit and scroll to the right. Tap on
'Change License Plate'.
Your current license plate will be displayed. Below it, there is a dropdown list
with your other license plates saved in the app. Select the desired license
plate and confirm with 'Use Parking Permit for Selected License Plate'. Your
parking permit now has the newly selected license plate registered.
Only one license plate can be registered in a long-term parking permit at a
time.
Not every parking operator allows a license plate change in their parking zones;
for example, in the Smartparking zones, a change is not possible. In this case,
when attempting to change, you will see the message "Changing the license plate
is unfortunately not possible for this parking ticket."
How do I deactivate my long-term parking permit subscription?
In the Parkster app, tap on 'More - My Pages - Manage your account' or log in to
www.parkster.de under My Pages.
Tap the three menu lines in the top right corner. Select 'Subscriptions'. Here
you can view your active subscriptions and, if desired, cancel them.
Do I need a Parkster parking sticker in the windshield?
Some few cities/municipalities still require a parking badge with a note about
digital parking to be displayed behind the windshield.
Where exactly you can check on our website under Parkplakette. On this page, we
offer you a parking badge to print out. In case of emergency, the parking badge
can also be printed in black and white or handwritten and legibly stating: "I
park with Parkster". It is important that it is placed clearly visible behind
the windshield.
Can I save parking spaces as favorites if I park there often?
Yes, that is possible.
After opening the app, tap on 'Favorites' below the search window and enter your
favorite zones using the 'Add to Favorites' function.
Or select your favorite zone and tap on the star to the left of the zone number.
In both cases, a window will open where you can give your favorite zone a custom
name. Confirm by tapping 'Add to Favorites' - done.
Your favorite parking zones are listed on the first page under favorites and are
ready for your next parking session.
Will I be notified by Parkster when the parking session expires?
Yes, if you have allowed push notifications for the Parkster app, you will be
notified 15 minutes before the expiration of the preset parking time.
Where can I use automatic camera parking everywhere?
The parking zones with automatic camera parking are marked in the app with an
image of a camera and the text "This is a parking space with automatic camera
parking". Also, pay attention to the signage on site.
For camera parking, you currently need a registered Parkster account.
How does Express-Parking without registration work?
With Express-Parking, you can park immediately without having to create a
Parkster account.
Download the Parkster app to your smartphone. Open the app, select the country
where you want to park, and tap on 'Get started!'.
Select your preferred payment method. To do this, tap 'More' in the bottom right
corner of the app, then tap 'Choose payment method'. In Germany and Austria, you
can choose from debit or credit card, PayPal, ApplePay, and GooglePay. Enter the
required information and confirm.
Register your license plate(s) under 'Vehicles', 'Add new vehicle'.
Now you can select the desired parking zone, enter the expected parking
duration, and start the parking process by tapping 'Add vehicle and park'.
A service fee of 0.50 EUR per parking transaction is charged for
Express-Parking.

How do I register for parking without additional fees?
Download the Parkster App for free, select your country, and tap on 'Get
started'!
In the app, tap on 'More' in the bottom right corner and then on 'Select payment
method'. At the very bottom, you will find 'Create Parkster account'. Tap on it,
fill in the required information, choose a password, and tap on 'Create
account'. Follow the further instructions.
The default payment method for a registered Parkster account is the email
invoice. You will be given the option to add a debit or credit card. Changing
the payment method is possible at any time via My Pages.
As a registered user, you do not pay any additional service fees per parking
transaction unless you choose to add one of our paid services, such as Parkster
Plus or Business Parking.

How can I switch from Express parking to my registered Parkster account?
Open the app and tap on 'Get started!'.
Do you already have a registered Parkster account?
Tap on 'More' in the bottom right. Under the button 'Choose your payment
method', you will find the link to sign up. Tap on it, fill in your access
details, and log in.
Don't have a registered Parkster account and want to register?
Tap on 'More' in the bottom right of the app and then on 'Choose payment
method'. At the very bottom, you will find 'Create Parkster account'. Tap on it,
fill in the required information, choose a password, and tap on 'Create
account'. Follow the further instructions.
How can I switch from my registered Parkster account to Express parking?
Go to your Parkster account and log out.
Tap 'More' in the bottom right corner and then tap 'Log out'.
Open the app, select the country where you want to park, and tap 'Get started!'
Set up your direct payment method by tapping 'More' in the bottom right corner
and then tapping 'Choose payment method'.
Enter your license plate(s) under 'Vehicles' and 'Add new vehicle'.
Now you are ready for Express-Parking.
After opening the app, tap 'Get started!', select your zone, set the expected
parking time, and start the parking process by tapping 'Select vehicle and
park'.
A service fee of 0.50 EUR per parking transaction will be charged for Express
parking.
Why was my parking session terminated?
Set the expected parking duration before each parking session using the slider
or the clock icon (Android) or the date display (iOS).
Once the selected parking duration has expired, your parking session will
automatically end.
If you do not proactively set a parking time, the last setting will be applied.
You can stop or extend the preset parking duration early in the app under
'Parkscheine'.
Can I also use automatic camera parking with Express parking?
Unfortunately, this is not working yet. Currently, you need a registered
Parkster account to use camera parking. We are working on it.

Why was I charged more for Express-Parken than I actually needed to pay?
Before starting a parking session, you set your expected parking duration. Based
on this time setting, the estimated total will be reserved on your chosen
payment platform.
After the parking session ends, the actual parked time is calculated, and the
corresponding price is determined and charged.
The reservation is then released. Sometimes this release can take up to five
business days. This depends on the chosen provider (PayPal, credit/debit card,
Google Pay, or Apple Pay) and cannot be influenced by Parkster.
