How do I park abroad with Parkster? (Cross Country)
With just one Parkster account, you can park and pay in all countries where
Parkster operates. Currently, parking in several countries with a private
account is only possible with Parkster Complete.
Starting a parking session abroad:
1. Open the Parkster app.
2. Search for the desired parking space, either via "Nearby" or enter a
location name or a zone code in the search window.
3. Tap on the displayed zone code with the parking space designation to see the
details.
4. Set the desired parking time using the slider or alternatively via the clock
icon (Android) or the calendar display (iOS). The estimated costs for the
selected parking duration will be shown right below.
5. Tap on "Continue" to select your vehicle and start the parking session.
Please note: You cannot start a parking session abroad if Parkster Complete is
not activated.
All costs will be calculated in the local currency of the country where you are
parking.
Example: A German user parks in Sweden ➡️ the parking fee will be charged in
SEK.
If you have a German or Austrian account and are parking in Sweden, for example,
you can select or change one of the following payment methods before starting
the parking session:
* Credit or debit card
* Apple Pay
* PayPal
For your first parking session in a new country, you must accept the terms of
use and the privacy policy of that country. This is only required once per
country.

Problems with Cross Country Parking (Error Messages & Solutions)
In some cases, parking abroad is not possible for certain users. Please note
that there are specific zones and scenarios where cross-country parking is
generally not allowed:
* Not all camera-monitored parking areas (ANPR zones) abroad are supported.
* Payment for electric vehicle charging sessions is currently not supported
abroad.
* If the selected zone in the vacation country does not allow direct payment,
the parking process cannot be initiated.
For some credit and debit cards, cross-country parking is currently blocked or
declined for technical reasons. If your card is declined abroad, please first
try an alternative credit card or another direct payment method.
If that doesn't help or you have no other options, here are the two quickest
emergency solutions:
Option 1: Express Parking (Fastest solution without registration)
* Log out of your current Parkster account in the app.
* Completely close the app and reopen it.
* Select your vacation country (e.g., Sweden) and tap "Let's go!".
* Set up payment method: Tap "More" in the bottom right and then "Select
payment method".
* Add vehicle: Go to "Vehicles" at the bottom of the app and tap "Add new
vehicle".
Option 2: Create a separate foreign account (e.g., for Sweden)
* Log out of your German or Austrian Parkster account ("More" ➡️ "Log out").
* Select the vacation country as the new country (e.g., Sweden).
* Tap "Let's go!" ➡️ "More" ➡️ "Select payment method".
* Scroll all the way down, tap "Create Parkster account" and register.
⚠️ Important when registering abroad (e.g., Sweden):
* During registration, you will be asked for a Bank ID. Tap "I don't have a
Bank ID".
* Enter your name and address. Tap "Save". You will be redirected to our
payment service provider's page.
* Fill in your debit or credit card details. Currently, this payment method is
the only one offered for a registered account in Sweden.
💡 Important technical limitations for Option 2:
* Contact details: Each email address and phone number can only be registered
once in the Parkster system. Therefore, you must use a different email
address and phone number for the foreign account than for your home account.
* Language: You can easily change the app's language through your smartphone's
general system settings.
How do I use my guest card with Parkster?
How do I use my guest card with Parkster?
With many guest cards, discount codes, or regional passes (e.g.
Allgäu-Walser-Card, Daheimpass, Berchtesgaden Guest Card, Rothenburg Plus Card,
Tirol Regio Card, etc.), you can enjoy discounted or free parking via Parkster.
How do I link my card with the Parkster app?
Depending on the region or type of card, there are two ways to redeem the
discount:
Option A: Using the "Use Discount Code" field
* Select the desired parking zone in the app.
* Enter your card number in the "Use Discount Code" field.
* The discount will be credited to your account as long as the card is valid.
Option B: Using the "Special Rate" selection
* Open the app, tap on "Find," and select the parking space.
* Select the "Special Rate" option (or e.g., "With Rothenburg Plus Karte").
* Enter the expected parking duration and tap "Continue."
* Enter your card number (as well as your name and email address, if
applicable) and confirm the special rate.
I forgot to enter the discount code - what to do?
* For discount codes: You can still add the card number as long as the parking
process is ongoing. If the parking process has already been completed,
retroactive crediting is no longer possible.
* For special rates: The parking process must be initiated before starting with
the selected special rate and the entered card number. Retroactive
adjustments after starting are not possible.
My discount code or special rate isn't working - what could be the reason?
If the entry fails or the discount is not applied, please check the following
points:
* Restrictions to specific parking zones: Many guest cards are only valid in
selected parking areas of the respective municipality/city and not
universally.
* Usage restrictions per day / license plate: Some discounts are only valid
once per day or only for a single vehicle. If a free parking process is
started and then immediately canceled, the discount for that day may still be
considered used.
* Simultaneous use: A discount code generally cannot be used for two vehicles
or multiple parking processes at the same time.
* Blocked times: Some cards have blocked times, after which the parking process
will be charged at the regular rate.
* Unsupported guest card: Not every regional guest card is supported by
Parkster. Please ensure that the card is explicitly authorized for use with
the Parkster app.
Tip: If all entries are correct and the code is still not accepted, please
contact the issuer of your guest card directly (e.g., city marketing or local
tourist information).
Booking a Visitor Tax (Kurtaxe)
What is a zone for the daily visitor tax (Kurtaxe)?
In some municipalities and regions, you will find dedicated zones in the
Parkster app for paying the daily visitor tax (Kurtaxe).
Important to know:
* Per person, not per vehicle: This payment covers your individual stay in the
region as a visitor - it is not tied to a vehicle.
* Does not include parking: These zones do not include a parking ticket.
Therefore, no green parking area is displayed on the map in the app, as the
visitor tax is not linked to a specific parking lot.
You will find the exact details and conditions on how to book the daily visitor
tax directly within the respective zone in the app.
Do you also need to park your car?
If you arrive by car and wish to park, you must purchase a separate parking
ticket in a regular parking zone. Parking zones are listed as separate parking
areas in the app.
